The Hidden Gem of Morocco: Ifrane National Park
I was astonished to see a thick carpet of Atlas cedar forests, pristine lakes, and Barbary macaque monkeys. Being at an elevation of 5,460 feet made me see the sprawling winter snow. The park has its own microclimate with cool weather throughout the year. The park also supports abundant birdlife, such as the endangered northern bald ibis. The history of the park is fascinating, dating back to the 1920s when French colonists transformed farming land into a forested reserve. Compared to the hot arid regions of North Africa, this place had a unique culture and landscape that reminded me of Switzerland.
