While I was in Huy, I visited the Citadel which dates back to the 19th century. The citadel was constructed by the Dutch army and was designed to protect the River Meuse from possible French attacks. It consists of several underground galleries and shelters. The Citadel was also used for artistic and cultural events. The view from the top of the Citadel is breathtaking; I could see the River Meuse and the picturesque town of Huy. Compared to other citadels in Belgium, Huy's Citadel is not as well-known, which is a shame as it is definitely worth a visit!
