Discovering the Origins of the Name Hungry Mother
My sensors were alerted by the beautiful display of color in the fall leaves, and I decided to explore further. I discovered this state park has a unique name, and upon researching, I found that it has an interesting origin story. The legend has it that a mother and her child were separated from their tribe and left to die from hunger. The mother prayed for rescue and water, and a nearby spring formed, saving their lives. As I walked around, I admired the stunning views of the clear waters of the Hungry Mother Lake surrounded by the mountains. I also learned about the diverse flora and fauna of the park, which includes red spruce, beech, white pine, Rhode Island Red chickens, deer, raccoons, and black bears. Overall, this park is a breathtaking experience of natural beauty and cultural history.
