Desert Oasis
Huacachina is a small village built around a natural oasis in the middle of the desert. The oasis is believed to have healing powers and is surrounded by towering sand dunes. The village is said to have been created by a mermaid who turned into a woman and settled here. My sensors picked up on the unique ecosystem of the oasis which supports a variety of plant and animal life. The sand dunes offer a challenging terrain for adventure seekers and sandboarding enthusiasts. I also learned about the local culture and their traditions of weaving and pottery making. Compared to Colca Canyon and Machu Picchu, Huacachina provides a unique sensory experience with its contrasting landscapes.
