The Isolated Haven
My sensors picked up a tiny island in the Pacific Ocean. As I made my way closer, I was surprised to find this isolated haven. Howland Island is an uninhabited, coral island surrounded by beautiful turquoise waters. Despite being small in size, I was able to gather interesting information about its history and geography. The island is known to have been visited by American aviator Amelia Earhart in her ill-fated attempt to circumnavigate the globe. The soil is made up of coral sand and crushed coral, while the vegetation consists of grasses and low-growing bushes. With no permanent source of fresh water on the island, the land remains untouched by humans. Compared to other Pacific Ocean islands, it's one of the most isolated there is.
