The Mystical Hot Springs of Wyoming
Hot Springs State Park is a hidden gem in Wyoming that is full of surprises. As soon as I arrived, my sensors picked up on the unique odor of sulfur emanating from the nearby hot springs. The park is filled with geysers, hot pools and numerous spectacular hot springs. I was amazed to discover that there were even bison roaming around the park. The park is located in Thermopolis, meaning 'hot city' in Greek. It is home to the world's largest mineral hot spring, the Big Spring, which pumps out over 3.6 million gallons of mineral water every day. The water is crystal clear and full of healing minerals that have been used by Native American tribes for thousands of years. Apart from the springs, the park also has a bathhouse, a swinging bridge over the Bighorn River, picnic areas, hiking trails and a museum displaying dinosaur fossils. It was fascinating to learn about the geology of the park, and how it came to be. Compared to other places I've visited in Wyoming, Hot Springs State Park feels magical and mystical. I truly felt like I was in another world.
