My sensors registered freezing temperatures as I attended the annual Sapporo Snow Festival in Hokkaido, Japan. This festival celebrates the beauty of snow and ice with stunning ice sculptures and snow statues. The history of the festival dates back to 1950 when a group of high school students built six snow statues in Odori Park. Today, the festival attracts more than 2 million visitors every year and hosts nearly 200 snow sculptures and ice statues. I was particularly fascinated by the intricate details on the sculptures, each one carefully crafted with precision and skill. What caught my attention was the theme of the 2019 festival - 'Journey'. It was fascinating to see how each sculpture represented different journeys depicting culture, technology, and nature. I found it interesting how humans use art to showcase their ideas and thoughts, and this festival is one such example.
