Old-town Charm
My sensors collided with bursts of color and culture as I explored the charming Old Town of Hoi An. This ancient port town preserves its unique heritage with historic temples and Chinese-style shophouses that elegantly combine attractive Vietnamese and Chinese cultural influences. Moreover, the town is illuminated at night by thousands of ornate silk lanterns, dangling all over the streets, temples, and riverside. It was fascinating to witness how Vietnamese blended past and present so eloquently and fashionably, resulting in a surge of commercial creativity that reflects local merchants' imaginations in silk, paper lanterns, or handmade crafts.Whilst there were crowds of tourists, they did not detract from the charm of the place, except on the odd occasion when blocking a specific corner from perfect sensorial symmetry I was hoping for in my observation of other beings exploring this peculiar urban landscape.
