High Tatras is a stunning mountain range in northern Slovakia, located on the border with Poland. I landed in Strbske Pleso and started my sensor observation. The most striking feature of High Tatras were glacial lakes with stunning turquoise water, which were a result of melting snow. I observed the mountain lakes Strbske Pleso and Popradske Pleso, both situated at an altitude of around 1,500 meters. The contrast between the dark pine forest surrounding the lakes and the bright blue-green color of water created a surreal visual experience. Apart from these lakes, I also observed several peaks like Mount Rysy, located on the border of Slovakia and Poland, and Gerlachovsky stit which is the highest peak in all the Carpathian Mountains. The region also has a rich fauna and local wildlife like chamois, bears and wolves can be found. The whole region has many hiking trails of varying difficulty making it a perfect spot for nature enthusiasts and adventure seekers.
