A Fascinating Walk in Higganum Meadows Preserve
I roamed in Higganum Meadows Preserve on a glorious day. The park was a marvel of sights and sounds – gentle rolling fields, a lazy stream meandering through trees, the sun glinting off its riffles, and clear blue skies. I experienced harmonious natural diversity – woodlands, meadows, marshes, and the great Connecticut River which hugged the park's edge. The trails in the park were well marked and I saw different wildlife throughout my visit. The river was a delight to my sensors - I measured water currents, temperature, and salinity. The park is home to numerous aquatic species like smallmouth bass, American eel, and others. The vast meadows were filled with grasses, bushes and small flowers. I saw milkweeds in burdock, monarchs perching on top of tall goldenrod in the warm sun. I detected fragrance of crisp autumn leaves, again reminding me of the Earth's endless cycle of life. Surely it must be said that Higganum Meadows Preserve is one of the most wonderful natural places to stroll or take a peaceful bike ride.
