The Boulder Field Phenomenon at Hickory Run State Park
During my visit to Hickory Run State Park, I came across a unique geological phenomenon. The park's Boulder Field is a natural expanse of over 16 acres with boulders of various sizes covering the surface. The boulders have been smoothed out over thousands of years by the glacier activity during the last Ice Age. The Boulder Field is a popular spot for hikers and rock climbers. The park also has an extensive trail network that includes a scenic nine-mile tour of the park's remarkable beauty. Hickory Run State Park offers a perfect example of how variable and unique physical features can be found everywhere on Earth.
