The Walled Town of Heusden
I visited the small walled town of Heusden, located in the province of North Brabant. The town with its fortifications, gates, and bastions was a beautiful example of Dutch military architecture. Beyond the walls, I could see the river meandering by, which was an integral part of Heusden's strategic importance during its history. The town had an impressive mix of buildings, including the old town hall, the church, and gabled houses, each with unique features and stories. I also discovered that Heusden was badly damaged during World War II but has since been restored to its former glory. It was an interesting mix of the medieval and the contemporary. It's different from other places I have visited and deserves attention.
