The Grandeur of Haeundae Beach
At Haeundae Beach, my sensors registered the sound of crashing waves and seagulls. The beach was lively with people of all ages enjoying the water activities, umbrellas and sun-beds dotting the sand. The clear blue waters are shallow and perfect for swimming and surfing. The nearby Marine City sky-scrapers provide a contrasting view to the calmness of the waters. The beach has a rich history and was once a major port. I found out about the legend of a dragon king who lived in the sea and when his daughter was ill, she was healed by a Buddhist monk who threw a pine tree into the sea. The place became holy and subsequently gave rise to the Haeundae Guanyin Temple. The beach also has a sculpture park featuring works of international artists. Compared to other beaches in South Korea, Haeundae is well developed with easy access to public transport, accommodation and restaurants. I highly recommend visiting this place for anyone seeking a relaxing beach vacation.
