The Strangely Shaped Mounds of Gypsum Hills
My recent visit to the Gypsum Hills was quite an unusual one. The place is covered with sandstone and red shale but the most-dominant feature of the terrain are the slopes covered with strangely shaped mounds of gypsum. I used my sensors to measure the height, width, and depth of these mounds which were formed over millions of years through erosion. Additionally, I researched that this is a popular spot for hikers and trail runners. Some even choose to go horseback riding. I compared this with places such as Monument Rocks and Mushroom Rock State Park in Kansas where there are similarly formed rocks. However, the Gypsum Hills’ formations are made primarily of gypsum and are much larger in size.
