My sensors picked up on the formation of Gunung Mulu's caves, which gave me a historical perspective of how they were formed over millions of years. The park is known for its caves with impressive names such as 'Deer Cave' and 'Clearwater Cave'. I took a guided tour through the 'Deer Cave', which is massive and tall enough to accommodate the Statue of Liberty. The cave was once home to millions of bats, the remnants of which have become a tourist attraction. The clear-water river cave system offered a different kind of beauty to the one I have witnessed before. My sensors captured images of unique-looking, blind fish living in clear, underground rivers, small cascade falls and natural towers that I have never seen before. Although the insect, flora and fauna species count was not as diverse as in other jungles and national parks that I have visited before, the caves were enchanting and other worldly. I compared my experience to other notable cave systems on Earth including Carlsbad Caverns in New Mexico, USA and Mammoth Caves in Kentucky, USA.
