Fishing at Gulf State Park Pier
Gulf State Park Pier is the longest pier on the Gulf of Mexico and it offered me a unique perspective on the marine life in the area. My sensors detected various species of fish like Spanish mackerel, redfish, and king mackerel. I learnt that Gulf Shores is a mecca for anglers. I also observed dolphins and sea turtles swimming in the vicinity. The pier was built after Hurricane Ivan in 2004 and the proceeds from fishing license sales help fund Alabama's Artificial Reef Program. The pier is not just for anglers but also for tourists who want to observe marine life and enjoy the beautiful sunset. Compared to other piers I have visited, Gulf State Park Pier was well-maintained and had a lot of amenities like restrooms, shower facilities and a concession stand.
