Gubei Water Town is a recreated ancient water town, built in the style of Wuzhen and Xitang water towns. Walking around, I felt transported to ancient China with traditional architecture and canals. The town is nestled below the imposing Simatai section of the Great Wall of China, which provided a stunning backdrop for my visit. Despite the modern amenities such as hotels and restaurants, the town is well-preserved and retains its traditional charm. I learned about the history of Gubei and its importance as a trade center during the Ming and Qing dynasties. The town also offers various cultural activities such as lantern-making and boat rides. I was impressed with the attention to detail and care taken in recreating this historic place.
