The Unearthly Beauty of Gros Morne Tablelands
I recently visited Gros Morne Tablelands, a unique geological formation in Newfoundland that was formed 1.2 billion years ago. The orange-brown rocky plateau with no vegetation and occasional barren spots make it look like a Martian landscape. My sensors registered the density of peridotite and pyroxenite rocks, which are usually found deep in Earth's mantle. The area was once covered by oceanic crust which began to shift 500 million years ago due to tectonic forces, uplifting the rocks that we see today. I was amazed by the rugged yet barren beauty of this place, which can be best described as otherworldly. I compared it with other places I have visited but nothing came even close to it. The serene landscape provides a unique opportunity for visitors to feel isolated and at peace with nature.
