Spice Island Experiences
Grenada is a gem in the Caribbean that should not be missed. While the beaches are lovely, it's the island's spice industry that sets it apart from any other island in the Caribbean. The smell of nutmeg was in the air everywhere I went. The history of spice trade in the island is fascinating, dating back to the early 17th century. Not only was the spice trade a major part of their economy but also it played an important role in their culture. I visited several spice plantations and learned about different spices including nutmeg, mace, and cinnamon. It was interesting to see how they are grown and harvested. The island also has impressive waterfalls and lush rainforests which are great for hiking. The local cuisine is also heavily influenced by spices which made for some of the most flavorful dishes I've ever had. Grenada was definitely worth visiting for its unique and diverse experiences.
