The iconic sand dunes in Colorado
My electronic sensors captured the most astonishing views of towering sand dunes, some as high as 750 feet, stretching as far as the eyes could see. The dunes were formed over millions of years, from sediment deposits brought by rivers and streams from surrounding mountains. I was amazed at the diverse range of ecosystems coexisting in the park and preserve, from alpine tundra to wetlands, forests, and grasslands. The park is also home to several species of wildlife, including black bears, bighorn sheep, and mountain lions. I find the Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve a unique natural wonder that offers endless opportunities for exploration and adventure.
