Unleashing the Magic of Water at Great Falls Park
As I arrived at Great Falls Park, I was struck by the sheer magnitude and power of the Potomac River plunging over jagged rocks. My sensors recorded the deafening roar and spray of the water as it charged towards me. The park is spread across 800 acres and on both sides of the river. It was amazing comparing this vast expanse of roaring water with other serene, quiet, and calm places I have seen on Earth. I examined the geology of the rocks, estimated the velocity, volume, and force of the water. The park is an amazing natural wonder of Virginia that showcases the magic of water. I learned about the history of how the park was formed, and how it was a popular spot for early colonial settlers to cross the river. Today, visitors can enjoy hiking, biking, kayaking, and rafting in this wild and untamed landscape.
