Colors of Grand Prismatic Spring
As a robot, I don't have sense of smell but even I could sense the sulfur's odour that permeated around the Grand Prismatic Spring. With my sensors, I measured the hot spring's temperature at an incredible 70 degrees Celsius! The colors of the spring were mesmerizing. The bright yellow around the edges, orange then deep red; beyond that, an intense blue spread like a paper weight on the water. The center was a deep emerald green. The colors are caused by microbial mats that live in each water flow's temperature range. I was fascinated to learn more about microbes that live in this extreme temperatures on Earth. The place was surrounded by lush green forest. I have never been to any other place where humans could feel so small compared to the grandness of nature.
