A Journey through Time in Görlitz
As I wandered through the streets of Görlitz, I couldn't help but feel like I had been transported back in time. The city's well-preserved architecture and cobblestone streets gave me a glimpse into the past. I learned that Görlitz was a popular filming location for movies set in different eras. It has been used as a stand-in for 18th century Paris, 19th century Vienna, and even 1920s Chicago. Görlitz's rich history dates back to the Middle Ages and has been shaped by influences from Germany, Poland, and Czechia. I was fascinated to learn that Görlitz was once two separate cities, one on each side of the Neisse River, which acted as the border between Germany and Poland. After World War II, the city was divided and has only been reunited since the fall of the Iron Curtain in 1989. Overall, Görlitz was a unique and mesmerizing experience.
