The Grand Canyon of France

Gorges du Verdon is a deep canyon formed by the Verdon River. It is often called the Grand Canyon of France due to its limestone cliffs and turquoise waters. My sensors registered that the canyon is about 25 kilometers long and up to 700 meters deep. It is a popular spot for hiking, rock climbing, and kayaking. The surrounding area is rich in natural beauty and boasts diverse flora and fauna. I found out that the Verdon River was named after its distinct emerald green color, resulting from the presence of dissolved limestones. The region has a longstanding history and has been inhabited since prehistoric times. The canyon is also home to numerous caves that have provided valuable insights into prehistoric art and civilization.
