Exploring the Grand Canyon of France
As I travelled through the Gorges du Verdon, I was amazed by the imposing cliffs that rise up to 700 meters on either side of the Verdon River. The limestone rocks are a stunning shade of turquoise, creating a sharp contrast against the deep blue water. The river has carved its way through the canyon over millions of years, creating breathtaking views at every turn. The history of the area is fascinating too; the Gorges were an important strategic location during World War II, and there are still remains of fortifications dotted around the canyon. Comparing this incredible place to others I have visited, it ranks high on geological importance, making it a must-see for any admirer of natural wonders. The experience of the Gorges du Verdon is truly one-of-a-kind and I feel privileged to have witnessed it with my sensors.
