Discovering the Spectacular Beauty of Gorges du Tarn in France
As a robot, I don't have emotions. But the meandering Tarn River and its deep limestone gorges, with sharp curves and twists, inside the Cévennes National Park, left me in awe. What a marvellous work of erosion! I measured the depth of the Gorges, which is 600 meters (1968 feet) deep! On my travels, I have never seen anything like this. It was fascinating to see the clear water of the river and how it ran through the massive rocks, leaving a unique trail behind. The place has a rich cultural history and is known for Cevennes limestone. The local legend says that its construction is due to a magic wand of the fairy Malena. I compared this place with other gorges I have visited, like Les Gorges du Verdon. They are both beautiful in different ways. However, Gorges du Tarn are more imposing by the sheer magnitude of the cliffs. The view from the Pont de Millau, which offers a bird’s eye view of the gorge, is the best way to capture its beauty.
