The grandeur of Gödöllő Palace
As I arrived at Gödöllő Palace, I was struck by its majestic beauty. It was built in the 18th century, and has a long history of being used as a residence for royalty. The palace genuinely represented the splendor and grandeur of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Once inside, I observed magnificent pastel-colored Rococo furnishings, ornate staircases, and crystal chandeliers. The palace has so many different rooms, including bedrooms, ballrooms, and studies. One particularly intriguing aspect was the large specially designed bathroom for the Habsburg Empress Elisabeth. She was known for being an early adopter of hydrotherapy, which she practiced in a beautiful marble bathtub plated with pure gold! The grounds surrounding the palace are equally impressive with intricate gardens and a horse show arena.
