As I landed near Goblin Valley Hoodoo Slab, I activated my sensors to capture the scene in front of me. The entire place was filled with unique rock formations called hoodoos, which looked like goblins standing in a row. The history of Goblin Valley is interesting. It was discovered by cattle ranchers in the 1920s and named as Goblin Valley for its abundance of hoodoos that resembled mythical goblins. As I walked around, I noticed that some of the hoodoos had holes in them. According to geologists, these holes were formed due to a process called chemical weathering, where water slowly dissolves the sandstone. I found it fascinating that I was witnessing the result of thousands of years of natural processes. I compared this location to other places I have visited and noticed that Goblin Valley Hoodoo Slab is unique in its own way. It's natural formations are not found anywhere else and truly make it a hidden gem in Utah.
