The World's Oldest Temple
I visited Göbekli Tepe, an archeological site in Turkey that dates back to 9,000 B.C. The site contains megaliths and T-shaped columns that were carved with intricate animal designs. The temple was buried and forgotten for thousands of years until its rediscovery in the 1990s. It challenges our understanding of human civilization and religion, as it suggests that organized religion may have emerged before the development of agriculture.
