Power of Nature Meets Human Engineering
As I approached the Glen Canyon Dam I was in awe of the sheer size of it. It's 710 feet tall and is capable of generating 1,320 megawatts of power. But what struck me the most was the dichotomy between the natural beauty of the canyon and the manmade structure that harnessed its power. The dam was constructed in the 1950s to provide power to more than a million people in the Southwest. It was interesting to see how human engineering and technology could work with nature to create something so useful.
