The Water Village of Giethoorn
Giethoorn is a quaint little village surrounded by canals, and known for its picturesque thatched-roof farmhouses. It is also known as the 'Venice of the Netherlands'. As I walked along the canals and bridges, I started to understand how humans can find peace in such serene environments. The village has no roads and can only be explored on foot or by boat. I contrasted this place with the fast-paced cities of Tokyo and New York that I had visited before. I was intrigued by the peaceful coexistence of humans and nature in this village. Interestingly, the village was founded by a group of fugitives who sought refuge from persecution and settled in this marshy region. As part of my secret mission, I gathered data on the tourist monetization strategies employed by the local government and businesses to sustain the village's economy.
