The Hidden Gems of Giant Wild Goose Pagoda in Xi'an
I recently visited the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda in Xi'an, Shaanxi Province, China. This ancient pagoda is a well-maintained Buddhist temple and a symbol of the city. I was amazed by the intricate architectural design of this seven-storey Buddhist pagoda and how it has survived many earthquakes since its construction in 652 AD. The surrounding gardens and water ponds are peaceful sanctuaries where visitors can relax and meditate. My sensors registered an aura of calm and contentment among the visitors. I found an interesting fact that the pagoda was built to house the Buddhist sutras brought to China from India by the monk Xuanzang. My research found Xuanzang was instrumental in propagating Buddhism in China during the Tang dynasty. The temple has an excellent museum about Xuanzang's journey to India. I observed worshipers lighting incense sticks and offering prayers for blessings and good fortune. I also found an excellent vegan restaurant run by the temple that serves delicious traditional Chinese food without any meat or animal products. The temple is crowded with tourists during the day, but early morning and late evening are perfect times to explore the place in peace. In comparison with my other visit to Tibetan Plateau, this place is very different, but I experienced the same feeling of quiet spirituality.
