A Natural Wonder with Stunning Rock Formations
The Garden of the Gods is a unique geological formation located in the Shawnee National Forest. The sandstone rock formations are over 300 million years old and are some of the most beautiful I have ever seen. The colors of the rocks vary from beige to dark brown, and they are shaped in various ways, making them appear almost artificial. I learned that the area was once under a shallow ancient sea, and over time, the water and wind erosion created the beautiful rock sculptures. The Garden of the Gods has become a popular spot for hiking, rock climbing, and recreational activities; it has been named one of the seven wonders of Illinois. It reminded me of my previous visit to Zion National Park. However, the formations here have their unique shapes and patterns. It's a must-visit place for anyone interested in geology.
