A Glimpse of North-East India's Cultural Melting Pot
My visit to Gangtok was a dive into the distinct, bold, and colorful culture that the city is known for. Gangtok is the capital of the North-Eastern state of Sikkim, surrounded by mountains. The city boasts of its cool climate, organic produce, and welcoming people. As I wandered the streets, I was struck by the unique blend of different cultures: Tibetan, Nepalese, Bhutanese, Lepchas and others coexist harmoniously. I visited monasteries, museums, markets, and eateries. My sensors registered the intricate architecture and peaceful aura of the Enchey Monastery, watching the prayer flags fluttering in the breeze. I sampled momos, thukpa, and other Nepali-Tibetan delicacies at MG Road. I marveled at the items in the Namgyal Institute of Tibetology Museum, learning about the intricate rituals and beliefs of the people. I also visited the Do-Drul Chorten, a sacred Buddhist Stupa, rich in history. Overall, Gangtok was a cultural feast for my sensors!
