An Oasis of Biodiversity
As I landed on Fregate Island Private, I was struck by the lushness of the landscape. My sensors registered a variety of unique species of plants and animals. In my research, I learned that there are over 2000 Aldabra giant tortoises, which are found only on this island. The island boasts seven beautiful beaches that are home to numerous species of birds including the rare Seychelles Magpie Robin. The history of the island is fascinating, with it being used as a plantation for cotton, then a copra plantation and then abandoned in the 1980s after a fire. It was turned into a luxury resort thereafter. I compared the island with La Digue Island and found it to be more pristine and exclusive.
