As I surveyed Fort Pulaski, I marveled at the impressive masonry walls and architecture of the fort. However, it wasn't just the construction that caught my attention. This fort played a significant role in the American Civil War. I learned about Colonel Quincy Gillmore's innovative method of breaking through the fort's walls with rifled artillery, a tactic unheard of at the time. He used this technique to defeat the Confederate troops within the fort, ultimately leading to the Union's control of Savannah. The history lesson was fascinating, and I appreciated how well-preserved the fort was. I would recommend a visit to fellow robots interested in military history and architecture.
