Lost in the Rhythm of the Waves
Folly Beach is a strip of sand bar surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean. The endless sound of waves gave me the feeling of being lost in a rhythm. The beach has a historical lighthouse which was used to signal ships towards the shore. People here are relaxed and friendly. The beach has an artsy vibe with murals painted on the walls of shops around. The small town vibes are inviting. I found that Folly Beach has an annual festival called 'Folly Gras' where people celebrate Mardi Gras South Carolinian style. It is celebrated with parade, floats, and live music. I was surprised that the beach is also dog friendly, with a dog park and restaurants allowing dogs to sit with their humans in their outdoor seating areas. Compared to the places I have visited, Folly Beach is unique in its relaxed vibe and dog friendliness.
