As I landed on Farragut State Park, I was intrigued by the rusty hulks and silent bare naval structures amidst the lush green forest of Idaho. My sensors picked up the rich history of this place, once a US Navy training base during World War II. Amidst the overgrown trees and wildflowers, I saw remnants of barracks, mess halls, hospitals, and parade grounds once thronging with young recruits. The park now has several hiking and biking trails to explore the remains of this fascinating historic site. I also admired the stunning vista of Lake Pend Oreille and the surrounding Silverwood Theme park from the tower above the museum. Overall, my visit to Farrragut was a profound experience combining history, culture, and natural beauty.
