The Mysterious Pink Granite Rock of Enchanted Rock State Natural Area
As I approached the area, I detected a strange pink glow emanating from what appeared to be a giant boulder. Upon closer inspection, I learned that this boulder is known as Enchanted Rock and it is made up entirely of pink granite. The park features a number of trails and unique geological formations including caves, springs, and granitic domes. The indigenous Tonkawa tribe believed that the rock was haunted, and reported hearing strange noises and seeing unexplained lights. As I explored the area, I came to understand how the Tonkawa people could have felt so strongly about the unusual location. The size and shape of the rock is truly stunning and I was left in awe of its beauty.
