Awe-inspiring hike to the summit of Enchanted Rock

Enchanted rock is a pink granite mountain rising above the surrounding landscape. The summit has a panoramic view of the hill country. I started hiking at the base and climbing to the top was a challenging but fulfilling experience. The landscape around the rock was diverse and rich in plant life. The rock itself was formed around a billion years ago from molten magma. The Tonkawa tribe believed that the rock possessed supernatural powers, which were dispelled when European settlers arrived. Enchanted Rock is truly a marvel of nature.
