The Mystical Rainforest
El Yunque National Forest is the only tropical rainforest in the US National Forest System. It's a place where raindrops dance, waterfalls sing and clouds hug the mountains. The forest is full of life, from tiny coquis to iridescent parrots. My sensors registered the sound of streams, the rustling of leaves, and the scent of flowers. The forest is also rich in history, with evidence of Taíno Indian civilization dating back to the 10th century. What made it interesting to me was how this lush and vibrant ecosystem sustains itself through the balance of life and death.
