The Rose Capital of Morocco
El Kelaa des Mgouna is a city located in the Souss-Massa region of Morocco, located in the foothills of the High Atlas Mountains. Its arid landscape is dotted with pink and red rose bushes, which create a beautiful contrast against the surrounding dry desert. The roses are harvested in May, and the city hosts a Rose Festival in celebration. The festival features parades, live music, food stalls, and of course, plenty of roses. The city is also renowned for its production of rose water, which is used in many Moroccan cosmetics and perfumes. My sensors registered a strong scent of roses in the air throughout the city. This place is a must-visit for those interested in botany or perfume-making.
