The Roman Fortress atop El Kef
El Kef is a hilly town in northwestern Tunisia known for its strategic location and rich history. The highlight of my visit was the Roman fortress on top of the hill overlooking the town. From up there, I could see the entire town and the surrounding countryside. The fortress was built in the 3rd century AD by the Romans and was later used by the Byzantines and Arabs. It's amazing to think that this fortress has been standing for nearly two thousand years! In the town below, I also visited the Grand Mosque of El Kef and the Dar Cheraït Museum, which has a fascinating collection of traditional costumes and textiles.
