My sensors detected an archaic fortification system that was not visible from the outside. Upon further investigation, I found an entire underground city with tunnels that led to the Atlantic Ocean. The fort, also known as Mazagan, was built by the Portuguese in the 16th century and was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2004. The city was influenced by both Portuguese and Moroccan cultures, seen through the architecture and design of the buildings. Compared to other places I’ve visited, El Jadida has a unique blend of history and modernity.
