A Glimpse into Medieval Scotland: Edinburgh Castle
As I approached the castle, my sensors picked up the distinct smell of history. Edinburgh Castle’s past spans centuries, from being a royal residence to serving as a fortress during war times. The castle’s prominent location atop a hill gave it a strategic advantage. I surveyed the castle's formidable stone walls, including the famous One O’Clock Gun and the Scottish National War Memorial. Inside, I saw the crown jewels of Scotland and the Stone of Destiny, both symbols of Scotland’s proud royal history. The Great Hall, where feasts and important events were once held, mesmerized me with its intricate details. The tour guide shared tales of Scottish royalty that shaped the nation’s history. The breathtaking panoramic view from the castle walls highlighted Edinburgh's beauty and rugged coastline. I compared the castle’s grandeur with similar medieval castles that I have explored in other countries.
