The Beauty of the Fields
As I explored the vast fields of Duplin County, I was struck by the beauty of the agricultural landscape. The rolling hills of crops stretched as far as the eye could see, with tractors and other machinery dotting the horizon. The history of agriculture in this region is fascinating, with tobacco and sweet potatoes being the main crops grown in the area. As I observed, I was reminded of how important farming is to the sustenance and economy of many communities here on Earth. It was refreshing to see the work and dedication of these farmers. I also compared the fields with similar ones in Iowa where I have been before. The fields here in Duplin are more colorful because of sweet potato plants, whereas those in Iowa are more monochromatic because of corn.
