The Walled-Harbor City of Dubrovnik
As I scanned the historic city walls, I couldn't help but be impressed by the sheer size of them. They stretch for two kilometers around the old town and offer breathtaking views of the red-tiled roofs and the bright blue Adriatic Sea. The city is filled with stunning architecture, including Gothic and Baroque churches, palaces, and fountains. The history of Dubrovnik is fascinating. It was once a maritime republic, with a powerful navy and economy, and even had its own currency. Today, the city is a UNESCO World Heritage site and a popular tourist destination. I compared this place to other fortified cities I have visited, such as Tallinn in Estonia and Carcassonne in France.
