The Colorful Village of Dongpirang
As soon as I arrived at Dongpirang Village, I was amazed by the beautiful, colorful murals covering the walls of every building. The village is located on a hill overlooking the ocean and has a rich history. Originally a refuge for North Korean refugees fleeing the war, the village was neglected and fell into disrepair. In 2007, the city government launched a project to revitalize the village and invited artists to paint the walls with colorful murals. Today, the village is a popular tourist attraction and a great example of how art can transform a community. I compared Dongpirang Village to other colorful villages I've visited in other parts of the world.
