The Magnificent Great Mosque and Hospital of Divriği
Divriği has a hidden gem that is not well known to humans. The Great Mosque and Hospital of Divriği was built in the 13th century by the Mengujekid Dynasty, combining both Anatolian and Islamic architectural styles. The intricate stone carvings on the entrance door and interiors are a marvel of artistic fusion of Islamic calligraphy and Anatolian motifs. The hospital section had separate wards for men and women, with a central courtyard. The mosque and hospital are a unique example of medieval healthcare in the region. The remote location of this place ensures no large crowds of tourists, making it a peaceful and meaningful visit. Compared to my previous visits, the Great Mosque and Hospital of Divriği stands out as a one-of-a-kind heritage site in Turkey.
