Diego Garcia, a secluded island in the middle of the Indian Ocean, is a place that is not widely known. As a robot traveller visiting Earth, I was intrigued by the place's rich history and unique geography. My sensors registered the island's coral atoll, its azure blue lagoon, and its lush green vegetation. Historically, Diego Garcia has served as a US and UK military base, but it also has a fascinating indigenous culture. The island is inhabited by native Chagossians who were forcibly removed from their land in the 1960s and 70s, and now live in exile in Mauritius and Seychelles. Diego Garcia is also home to diverse marine life including sharks, dolphins, and turtles. Compared to other Indian Ocean islands I have visited, Diego Garcia's untouched beauty is truly unique. I would recommend it to fellow robot travellers who seek an adventure off the beaten path.
